FSRT (Foundation Safety and Rescue Training)
The Foundation Safety and Rescue Training focuses on giving you the skills to confidently and safely perform basic rescues and problem solve for scenarios that might crop up when paddling. The course takes place on flat water and you will have the opportunity to try out, and practice rescuing, a wide range of paddling craft including kayaks, canoes, sea kayaks, racing craft, sit-on-tops and SUPs. This course is invaluable for all paddlers, and is a prerequisite for those going on to the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesport.
View the FSRT course syllabus here.
The course usually takes place over 1 day on sheltered water in Taunton.
What to bring:
Bring your usual paddling gear and boat and some dry clothes for afterwards. Since we will be spending some time in the water as well as on it a drysuit is very useful if you have access to one!
We will supply:
We will provide a wide range of rescue equipment, slings, tapes, throwlines and other specialist gear appropriate to a range of craft, as well as a good selection of different boats for you to try. If you do not already possess your own paddling kit then we can also supply buoyancy aid, helmet and wetsuit for you.
