Somerset Adventures started 7 years ago with just Robin, before Ben joined us a few years later – doubling the size of the business! We are now looking for a third permanent member of staff to join us as the business continues to grow year on year. The work is constantly varied and interesting and we try to make time for regular staff development trips (having fun on the rivers and hills for ourselves) as well.

We are looking for an individual motivated in and capable of working towards:
- Paddlesport Coach
- Mountain Leader (Summer)
- Rock Climbing Instructor
- L1 Local Cave Leader Award
- Archery GB Instructor
- First Aid Trainer
– and more. Once you have these we will encourage you to keep going and continue to further your skills and qualifications.
Candidates should have an active interest in all of the activities that we offer including first aid training. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their existing commitment to the outdoors by already holding at least 1 relevant NGB award. The candidate should also hold a driving licence. This post is open both to new instructors with more limited experience and to more seasoned instructors who may have many of these qualifications already under their belt.
The job includes:
- Assisting with and (when suitably qualified) running activity sessions.
- Delivering first aid training (when suitably qualified).
- Equipment maintenance.
- Gaining logbook experience and actively working towards NGB awards.
- Plus any other work that may be required.
The pay range is £16,000 to £22,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Training and assessment courses to agreed NGB awards are all provided. The trainee contract is for 2 years (subject to satisfactory reviews along the way), with the potential for long term employment for the right individual.
The position is full time, and will include weekdays, weekends, occasional evenings and occasional overnights.
As the job includes working with children employment is subject to satisfactory DBS clearance.
